SWIMMERS . . . TAKE YOUR MARK . . .
The Seminole Sharks swim and dive team is a recreational team in Madison’s All-City Swim League. All Seminole members are eligible and encouraged to join.
The summer swim season consists of seven dual meets and culminates in one of the largest outdoor swim meets in the country. There are few things more exciting than 1,800 swimmers all competing at a single meet. So big that it even gets covered by local TV & newspapers! Participants compete against others their own age, boys and girls separately. The age groups are 8 & under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15 & up. The age group that the swimmer competes in is based on their age on June 1.
Kids have daily swim practices with our outstanding coaches, learning fundamental skills and strategies for racing. We emphasize improving on personal performance, rather than simply winning races…although one can lead to the other!
Practices are weekday mornings & meets are typically on Saturday mornings for swimmers, Friday evenings for divers. Team members are encouraged to attend at least three (3) practices per week.
Meets are not mandatory, but you must swim at least three (3) dual meets to participate in the All City meet at the end of the season. Swimmers and divers are encouraged to attend as many meets and practices as they can, but all levels of participation are well received. Doing both swim and dive team is certainly encouraged.
Last year was another great season culminating with the All-City meet where we won the Food Drive Award for the second straight year! In addition to working hard, we’re big on fun. There is a kick-off pizza party, the team trip to Noah’s Ark, the Glow Night swim party, and the tie-dye party, and maybe more. The Seminole Sharks team had about 200 swimmers and 20 divers. Don’t miss the fun!
